Healthcare professionals are advised to monitor patients closely, interrupt infusion immediately if a severe reaction occurs, and ensure proper premedication protocols are followed.

In cases of severe infusion reaction, infusion of ofatumumab must be interrupted immediately and symptomatic treatment instituted. Ofatumumab should be administered under the supervision of a physician experienced in the use of cancer therapy and in an environment with adequate monitoring facilities. Patients should receive premedication agents 30 minutes to 2 hours prior to each infusion.

The risk is linked to delayed gastric emptying caused by these drugs. Registration holders are required to update product information to reflect this safety information.

Healthcare professionals and patients should be aware of the potential risk of aspiration and pneumonia aspiration associated with the use of GLP-1 RAs during general anaesthesia or deep sedation. Patients should inform their doctors if they are scheduled for procedures under anaesthesia while taking these medications. Registration holders are directed to update local package inserts and consumer medication information leaflets.
